FAQ
I already have a birth plan, how will these help me?
A birth plan is great. It says how you hope things will go. But if your plan only covers the ideal, you’re missing half the story. Most births don’t go perfectly to plan and that’s okay. What matters is how prepared you are when things shift.
These cards take you beyond the perfect playlist and diffuser. They walk you through the what-ifs, the curveballs, the “wait, what is that intervention?” moments.
You’ll build real contingency plans, clarify how you want to be treated, and get crystal clear on what matters when things move fast.
If you haven’t explored the uncomfortable scenarios, the unexpected options, or how you want decisions made when you’re mid-wave and not speaking?
You need these.
Can I gift these if I don’t know the parents’ birth preferences?
Absolutely. These cards aren’t about telling anyone what to do. They’re about sparking conversation, curiosity, and confidence. Whether the parent-to-be is planning a hospital birth, a home birth, or hasn’t even thought about it yet, these cards are a thoughtful, empowering gift that helps them ask the right questions, explore their options, and feel prepared for whatever comes next. It’s the gift of knowledge, connection, and confidence, all neatly boxed and ready to go.
Are the cards suitable for all types of birth?
Absolutely. That’s the whole point.
Hospital, birth centre, home birth, induction, epidural, freebirth, caesarean, these cards don’t tell you which path is “right.” They help you figure out what feels right for you.
And your birth partner? They learn how to advocate for you when you’re busy doing the work of bringing your baby earthside.
These cards are here for every birth, every story.
When should we start using the cards?
Whenever you’re ready.
Some women start in the first trimester, dipping in slowly and getting curious. Others wait until the third trimester and go deep.
There’s no wrong time - the sooner you explore, the more confident you’ll feel when things get real.
What if I end up with a medical emergency?
Birth can be unpredictable, and yes, emergencies happen. These cards aren’t here to map out every possible medical scenario.
They’re here to make sure that if things shift, you’re not walking in blind.
When you’ve explored your options, talked through “what ifs,” and shared your preferences with your birth partner, you respond from a place of clarity, not panic. You understand what’s being suggested, you know what matters to you, and you can advocate for yourself with confidence.
A medical emergency doesn’t mean you lose ownership of your birth. It means you lean into the groundwork you’ve already done.
My Body, My Birth™ isn’t about controlling the outcome. It’s about equipping you to stay grounded, informed, and respected no matter how your birth unfolds.
What topics are covered in the cards?
135 info-packed cards dive into standard pregnancy, birth, and postpartum scenarios, plus 15 illustrated affirmation cards to boost your confidence.
We cover interventions you might face, your options, and practical ways to navigate them. We also guide you through postpartum prep and the birth process itself.
Not every rare complication is included - these cards focus on the experiences most women actually encounter. High-risk factors that need specialist care aren’t the main focus, unless they’re common conditions like pre-eclampsia.
What if I don't have a birth partner to play the game with?
No problem. A birth partner can be anyone who’s got your back - your partner, a friend, a family member, midwife, or doula. The key is trust and comfort.
Flying solo? You’re a legend. These cards work just as well on your own. Go at your pace, reflect, prep, and get clued-up for what’s coming. Think of it as a big virtual hug while you arm yourself with confidence. You’ve got this, and you’re never truly alone on your journey.
What makes these cards different?
These aren’t your run-of-the-mill pregnancy cards. We wanted birth partners front and centre, not just on the sidelines. Too often they feel lost, disconnected, or clueless. These cards drag them right into the heart of the prep.
Plus, there’s some cheeky fun thrown in with wild cards that spark laughs, deep chats, and unexpected moments of connection. Everything is grounded in unbiased info that celebrates all types of birth, so you both feel prepped, empowered, and ready for anything.
Can these cards be used during birth classes or workshops?
Absolutely. Doulas, birth educators, and antenatal facilitators use these cards all the time to kickstart real conversations, break the ice, and get couples thinking about scenarios they might otherwise skip. They’re perfect for sparking discussion, helping partners connect, and giving everyone in the room practical tools to feel prepared. Whether it’s a small group or a full workshop, these cards make learning interactive, fun, and unforgettable, because preparation doesn’t have to be boring. What if I have questions about something not covered in the cards?
We’ve got lots covered, but not everything. For the tricky stuff, your care provider has the creds, speak to them.
How do these cards help me in my decision making process?
They don’t tell you what to do. They make you think, explore, and find the info that actually fits your values. You end up making choices that feel right for you, not anyone else.
